Nuclear Power?

Ya'll know I'm a staunch repub. But I have a problem with Bush on this subject, and hopefully we can do something about it.

Our pres wants nuclear power plants built because of the oil prices. I have no problem with alternative fuel, but criminy--nuclear? It has proven to be problematic; and also if we are in a war, the plants would definately be a target. what about the waste? How do we take care of that?

Alternative fuel is necessary, yes--but something safer for the environment=United States Citizens is necessary. Agree or no?

Hi people I'm new and have a question. Next week my history of architecture teacher has invited me to go to a concert at orange coast college. She said the money will benifit the lives of young orphan children in Afghanistan. The concert will have music, and a fashion show exploring the culture of the middle east. I really want to go but is there anyreason why I shouldn't go?

Please help me spread the word. I am a poet and this is the only way I know to help people be aware of what is happening in our country that I love and miss very much.

Pleas read these two poems, and if you are so inclined, circulate them among friends.

is missing it's idiot.

Fuck the South. Fuck 'em. We should have let them go when they
> wanted to leave. But no, we had to kill half a million people so
> they'd stay part of our special Union. Fighting for the right to
> keep slaves - yeah, those are states we want to keep.
>
> And now what do we get? We're the fucking Arrogant Northeast Liberal
> Elite? How about this for arrogant: the South is the Real America?
> The Authentic America. Really?
>
> Cause we fucking founded this country, assholes. Those Founding
> Fathers you keep going on and on about? All that bullshit about what
> you think they meant by the Second Amendment giving you the right to
> keep your assault weapons in the glove compartment because you
> didn't bother to read the first half of the fucking sentence? Who do
> you think those wig-wearing lacy-shirt sporting revolutionaries
> were? They were fucking blue-staters, dickhead. Boston?
> Philadelphia? New York? Hello? Think there might be a reason all the
> fucking monuments are up here in our backyard?
>
> No, No. Get the fuck out. We're not letting you visit the Liberty
> Bell and fucking Plymouth Rock anymore until you get over your real
> American selves and start respecting those other nine amendments.
> Who do you think those fucking stripes on the flag are for? Nine are
> for fucking blue states. And it would be 10 if those Vermonters had
> gotten their fucking Subarus together and broken off from New York a
> little earlier. Get it? We started this shit, so don't get all
> uppity about how real you are you Johnny-come-lately "Oooooh I've
> been a state for almost a hundred years" dickheads. Fuck off.
>
> Arrogant? You wanna talk about us Northeasterners being fucking
> arrogant? What's more American than arrogance? Hmmm? Maybe horsies?
> I don't think so. Arrogance is the fucking cornerstone of what it
> means to be American. And I wouldn't be so fucking arrogant if I
> wasn't paying for your fucking bridges, bitch.
>
> All those Federal taxes you love to hate? It all comes from us and
> goes to you, so shut up and enjoy your fucking Tennessee Valley
> Authority electricity and your fancy highways that we paid for. And
> the next time Florida gets hit by a hurricane you can come crying to
> us if you want to, but you're the ones who built on a fucking swamp.
> "Let the Spanish keep it, it’s a shithole," we said, but you had to
> have your fucking orange juice.
>
> The next dickwad who says, "It’s your money, not the government's
> money" is gonna get their ass kicked. Nine of the ten states that
> get the most federal fucking dollars and pay the least... can you
> guess? Go on, guess. That’s right, motherfucker, they're red states.
> And eight of the ten states that receive the least and pay the most?
> It’s too easy, asshole, they’re blue states. It’s not your money,
> assholes, it’s fucking our money. What was that Real American Value
> you were spouting a minute ago? Self reliance? Try this for self
> reliance: buy your own fucking stop signs, assholes.
>
> Let’s talk about those values for a fucking minute. You and your
> Southern values can bite my ass because the blue states got the
> values over you fucking Real Americans every day of the goddamn
> week. Which state do you think has the lowest divorce rate you
> marriage-hyping dickwads? Well? Can you guess? It’s fucking
> Massachusetts, the fucking center of the gay marriage universe. Yes,
> that’s right, the state you love to tie around the neck of anyone to
> the left of Strom Thurmond has the lowest divorce rate in the
> fucking nation. Think that’s just some aberration? How about this: 9
> of the 10 lowest divorce rates are fucking blue states, asshole, and
> most are in the Northeast, where our values suck so bad. And where
> are the highest divorce rates? Care to fucking guess? 10 of the top
> 10 are fucking red-ass we're-so-fucking-moral states. And while
> Nevada is the worst, the Bible Belt is doing its fucking part.
>
> But two guys making out is going to fucking ruin marriage for you?
> Yeah? Seems like you're ruining it pretty well on your own, you
> little bastards. Oh, but that's ok because you go to church, right?
> I mean you do, right? Cause we fucking get to hear about it every
> goddamn year at election time. Yes, we're fascinated by how you get
> up every Sunday morning and sing, and then you're fucking towers of
> moral superiority. Yeah, that's a workable formula. Maybe us fucking
> Northerners don't talk about religion as much as you because we're
> not so busy sinning, hmmm? Ever think of that, you self-righteous
> assholes? No, you're too busy erecting giant stone tablets of the
> Ten Commandments in buildings paid for by the fucking Northeast
> Liberal Elite. And who has the highest murder rates in the nation?
> It ain't us up here in the North, assholes.
>
> Well this gravy train is fucking over. Take your liberal-bashing,
> federal-tax-leaching, confederate-flag-waving, holier-than-thou,
> hypocritical bullshit and shove it up your ass.
>
> And no, you can't have your fucking convention in New York next
> time. Fuck off.

Its not unpatriotic to resist the war
Its not unpatriotic to disagree with the president
Its not unpatriotic to disagree with Rush, Sean or Anne Colter....
Its american to have a tribe and discuss these things out and to disagree
does not mean....anyone is a traitor or loves their country any less than most conservatives i have met who seem to think they have the hold on all that is right with our country and some kind of hold on the memory and work of our countrys founding fathers!!
on the eve of this important election......
"for having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged by better information or fuller consideration, to change opinons even on important subjects, which i once thought right, but found to be otherwise. It is therefore that the older i grow, the more apt i am to doubt my own judgement, and to pay more respect to the judgement of others. most men indeed as well as most sects in religion, think themselves in possession of all truth, and that whatever others differ from them it is so far error.....but though many private persons think almost as highly of their own infallibility as that of their sect, few express it so naturally as a certain french lady, who in dispute with her sister, said "I don't know how it happens sisiter, but i meet with nobody but myself, that's always in the right"

October Surprise

A column from a fledgling Libertarian web site dedicated to California news, politics, culture, and lifestyle. (www.battlecry-ca.com)

Best wishes,
Mike Forbes

The phrase "October Surprise" was invented on Oct. 2, 1980 by George H. Bush at a campaign appearance in Eugene, Ore. Mr. Bush warned that President Carter might engineer an event that would change the way the electorate viewed the national race because, "When you are a president, you have an ability to shape things to some degree.” <br> <br>

Whether there will be an October Surprise in 2004 remains to be seen. We may even see a November 1st Surprise. Or a 2nd of November Surprise. Or we may see an October Surprise not engineered by the President. <br> <br>

If an October Surprise were to occur, what manifestation is it likely to take? Might it be the announcement that Osama bin Laden has been captured? <br> <br>

Earlier in the year, both left and right-wing ideologues claimed that the U.S. military already had Osama bin Laden on ice, ready to be produced. <br> <br>

Putting that nonsense aside, what are the chances Osama will be taken between now and the election? <br> <br>

The C.I.A. believes bin Laden is in a mountainous area north of the Pakistani city of Quetta. The region is populated with bin Laden supporters and the terrorist leader is estimated to have 50 bodyguards with him at all times. bin Laden and his men sleep in caves. The area is subject to snow storms sweeping 10,000ft-high mountains and buffeted by high winds. There are no roads and donkeys are the preferred mode of transport. <br> <br>

This makes conventional assault- surrounding the area and methodically searching for the terrorist- impossible. The plan to capture bin Laden would depend on a swift, surgical operation. Special Forces troops in Afghanistan await intelligence about bin Laden’s location and the order to snatch him. <br> <br>

Capturing bin Laden would seal the election for Bush. The only problem is no one in the U.S. military knows where to find The World’s Most Wanted Man. <br> <br>

The U.S. hasn’t been able to locate bin Laden since 9/11. Let some simple, extremely unscientific numbers set the odds for bin Laden’s capture between now and the election- 160 weeks since the W.T.C. Bombings without useable intelligence : 1 week remaining before the election. <br> <br>

The far more likely October Surprise is that Al Qaeda will employ the Madrid Strategy, so named for the March 11, 2004 commuter train bombings in Spain that killed 191 people, to turn voters against President Bush. <br> <br>

The Madrid Strategy seeks to pick away at the coalition until it is reduced until only the U.S. remains. The bombings in Spain were clearly intended to coincide with that country’s election season. Al Qaeda’s hopes of turning middle-of-the-road voters against supporting U.S. efforts to stabilize Iraq were realized. The terrorists, heartened by success in Spain, will try their best to strike where Americans will feel it most. <br> <br>

Battle Cry doesn’t shy from making predictions and so far we’re 2-0, but we can’t employ that kind of a hot streak in an arena that deals with domestic terrorism. Instead, Battle Cry will set the odds. <br> <br>

Odds on a domestic terrorist attack before Election Day… 1 : 1. <br> <br>

And if terrorists succeed in killing Americans at home? <br> <br>

Bush would be victorious. <br> <br>

There is little doubt that the Bush Administration, though hamstrung by the lumbering nature of all bureaucracies, has done its best to protect Americans at home and no patriotic American could ever believe that an American leader of either party would allow an attack to occur for political gain. <br> <br>

Americans aren’t appeasers. Blood on American soil would put even “safe” states like California back into contention.<br> <br>

We need writers with beliefs like this tribe

Battle Cry (www.BattleCry-CA.com) is an electronic periodical dedicated to articulating, shaping, and promulgating the ideas that will secure liberty and prosperity for the inhabitants of California.

Battle Cry is a non-partisan news source that seeks to increase individual freedom and responsibility, protect the rights of property owners, bolster a marketplace that encourages business and the creation of wealth, improve education, manage our environment at the crossroad of sustainability and profitability, aid in the swift rendering of humane justice, and find solutions to the problems we hold in common with our neighbors in a manner that encourages peace and tolerance.

We give equal space to all qualified viewpoints. Our philosophy is built around respect. We are looking for intelligent activists and writers to join our team. Here is our code:
Working for Change First, Dollars Second
Our contributions to Battle Cry should be directed in the spirit of our mission statement: to articulate, shape, and promulgate ideas that will secure liberty and prosperity for California. Our goal is to make the world a better place. BattleCry-CA.com is run for profit, but compensation should not be our sole consideration. Ideally, we will look upon working for a better future as our foremost reason for contributing to BattleCry-CA.com. At Battle Cry we work for change first, dollars second. This mind-set will help BattleCry-CA.com survive until our company begins to generate revenue. Helping one’s community is a reward unto itself; the paycheck is gravy. (Compensation schedules are addressed below.) Remembering this attitude after the money begins to arrive will assure that we continue to affect positive change.
Employee Empowerment
People are Battle Cry’s most important resource and the key to our competitive advantages. We have experts writing in every topic. The way to sustain a high level of enthusiasm and personal satisfaction is to empower the individual. Our product is timely, interesting information that people trust and want. How editors and writers go about making that product is up to them.
Building networks of contacts and writers is an important task for all levels of Battle Cry personnel. The more people working with us the better our product will be, the faster our popularity will grow, the quicker we will turn a profit. We are our own best publicity department and our own best recruiters.
Editors have been told they should treat their subject categories as their own personal kingdoms. It is up to the editors which topics are reported. The editor of each bureau knows that subject best; they know what should be written.
Battle Cry’s only content stipulations, besides that articles be timely, interesting, and pertinent to California, are no advocating treason (violent overthrow of the United States government/giving comfort or aid to foreign enemies), no anonymous sources (all original writing citing opinions or containing quotes must have a name verifiable by a phone number), and no conspiracy theories (no proof means no publish).
However, editors are advised to keep the publisher and managing editor informed of their intended course of articles. Doing so will prevent repetition of subjects, conflicts with other editors, and the wasting of time on subjects that are of marginal interest. Occasionally a subject may straddle the lines between the boundaries of two subjects. The publisher will decide which editor and writer will offer Battle Cry’s position.
Respect for Diversity

Respect for the views of others is the concept that unifies Battle Cry into a team for change. Harnessing the thinking, ideas, and energy of a wide cross-section of people is the best strategy for us to find stories and information that no one else has yet. It is of paramount importance that we demonstrate trust and respect for the unique talents and perspective of each member of Battle Cry. Each person on our staff is an expert in their field. Please defer to their expertise or simply agree to disagree.
Professionalism
Everyone is expected to conduct themselves with professionalism when acting in their capacity as members of the Battle Cry staff. We must be seen by all who come in contact with us as sober, rational, and lucid.
Please take the time to use an endearment when writing email on behalf of Battle Cry. Please use the spell check and re-read what you have written when corresponding with writers or other companies. Please do not over-use capitals, engage in “flaming” email, over-punctuate (???), or use dem

Visit our site, take a look around, then contact us at managingeditor@battlecry-ca.com. Help change California for the better! Join our team today!

It’s a great day for California!

Geraldo Reporting from Iraq

The buildings that AREN'T burning in Iraq.... Probably each of you has wondered if things could be as bad as Brokaw, Jennings, et al, have been painting it.

"They have a saying in the news business," Geraldo Rivera related this week. "Reporters don't report buildings that don't burn." And with that introduction, he told a TV audience about the story that is being systematically denied to our entire nation: the success story of post-Saddam Iraq.

Are we losing some soldiers each week? Yes.

Is there some frustration in the public about electricity and water service? Yes.

Are some Saddam Hussein loyalists throughout the land, making trouble? Yes.

Has this opened a window for some terrorist mischief? Yes.

But that's ALL we hear. No wonder the country is in a mixed mood about Iraq. If you hear about the buildings that are not burning, though, it is a different story indeed.

Rivera is no shill for George W. Bush. But Bush, Condi Rice and Colin Powell together could not have been as effective as Geraldo was Thursday night on the Fox News Channel's Hannity and Colmes program.

"When I got to Baghdad, I barely recognized it," he began, comparing his just-completed trip to two others he made during and just after the battle to topple Saddam. "You have over 30,000 Iraqi cops and militiamen already on the job.

This is four months after major fighting stopped. Can you imagine that kind of gearing up in this country? Law and order is better; archaeological sites are being preserved; factories, schools are being guarded." But what about the secondhand griping that the media have been so efficiently relating about power, water and other infrastructure?

"To say that Iraq is being rebuilt is not true," answered Rivera. "Iraq is being built. There was no infrastructure before; we are doing it. I just think the good news is being underestimated and underreported." At this juncture, one must evaluate how to feel about the voices telling us only about the bad news in Iraq, whether from the mouths of news anchors or Democratic presidential hopefuls. At best, they are unde! rinformed. At worst, their one-sided assessments of post-Saddam Iraq are intentional falsehoods for obvious reasons.

If I hear one more person mock that "Mission Accomplished" banner beneath which President Bush thanked a shipload of sailors and Marines a few months back, I'm going to spit. That was a reference to the ouster of Saddam's regime, and that mission was indeed accomplished, apparently to the great chagrin of the American left. No one said what followed would be easy or cheap,! and that's why the dripping-water torture of the cost and casualty stories is so infuriating.

Remember we pay our soldiers whether they are in Iraq or in Ft Bragg, North Carolina or Ft Hood, Texas or where ever.

We should all mourn the loss of every fallen soldier. But context cries out to be heard. Our present news media is not performing this task. As some dare to wonder if this might become a Vietnam-like quagmire, I'll remind whoever needs it that most of our 58,000 Vietnam war toll died between 1966 and 1972, during which we lost an average of about 8,000 per year. That's about 22 per day, every day, for thousands of days on end.

Let us hear NO MORE Vietnam comparisons. They do not equate. What I hope to hear is more truth, even if we have to wrench it from the mouths of the media and political hacks predisposed to bash the remarkable job we are doing every day in what was not so long ago a totalitarian wasteland. Local elections are under way across ! Iraq, Rivera reported. "Where Kurds and Arabs have been battling for decades, things have been settling down. Administrator Paul Bremer is doing a great job."

So does Geraldo think his media colleagues are intentionally painting with one side of the brush? "I'm not into conspiracy theories... but there's just more bang for your buck when you report the GI who got killed rather than the 99 who didn't get killed, who make friends, who helped schedule elections, who helped shops get open for business, who helped traffic flow again.

"The vast majority of Iraqis are very happy to have us there. I would like to see a bit more balance." This needs to be reported to the American Public who are presently being duped. I expect the dominant media culture to nitpick and attack Bush, and Democrats to blast him with reckless abandon. But when that leads to the willful exclusion of facts that would shine truthful light on the great work of the American armed forces, that level of malice plumbs new depths.

If you have a friend that is looking for the truth, pass this on.

One thing will happen if George Bush is NOT re elected.

More American cititzens will die at the hands of terrorists than ever before in recorded history. The cells are here, they're just waiting for Kerry to put his hand on the good book and say "I do" . . . then Hell breaks loose.

My kids didn't have to grow up under the fear of the pending nuclear armageddon of the Cold War. They've never had to practice getting under a desk for a fallout drill. They've never had the nightmares of losing a whole city to one atomic weapon.

If Kerry wins, we all lose. The terrorists will jump at the chance to destroy our way of life. . . that's just common sense.

Letter to the President

I just sent our president an email. . .he may not get it or ever see it, but I needed to write it.
Mr. President:
I need to thank you for what you've done for our country. I believe with all my heart that your view of how our nation's security will be increased and maintained is THE way to go. I hope that you are reelected and you have my vote.
My two children, and the world they will grow old in, is a paramount thought these days. Thanks to folks like the late President Ronald Reagan, my kids didn't have to grow up under the fear of the pending nuclear Armageddon of the Cold War. They've never had to practice getting under a desk for a fallout drill. They've never had the nightmares of losing a whole city to an enemy's atomic weapon.
From 1980 to 1990, I did what I could to serve my country, as a U.S. Navy Photo-Journalist onboard the USS Nimitz and later in Public Affairs at the U.S. Naval Academy. In that short period of my life, I learned what it meant to protect our country. From going ashore in Beirut, Lebanon, after terrorists killed over 200 of our Marines through helping our country get through the Challenger disaster, I assisted in some small way, to keep the United States strong and united.
Of course there's a threat out there that's been waiting to attack America's shores since before the time of President Reagan, called terrorism. When the attacks happened at 9/11, I knew that we had, in you, a president who would not let those terrorists go unpunished.
When we attacked the terrorists in Afghanistan and later in Iraq, I knew that these measures were the right thing to do. Unfortunately, some American's don't understand the word "preemptive." It seems we
have many folks in our country who have to wait till a crime is committed before they react. I can't help but think that if our security agencies stopped those 9/11 hijackers and held them for questioning, just on suspicion of what they were doing, groups like ACLU would have been up in arms in protest.
I can understand your frustration of being "damned if you do, damned if you don't".
I want you to know that there are millions of Americans who support your policies against terrorism and understand the word "preemptive." If anything, we need to do more preemptive work in places like Libya, Iran, Korea, and others. We need to stop terrorism THERE. . .before it gets to our shores. . . I can't understand why some of our countrymen don't understand that.
I hope this note finds you well, strong, and ready for reelection and then to take our country into a future of peace through the power of the United States. Sometimes just the "muscle" of showing what the Stars and Stripes CAN do, is enough to keep some terrorists scared of our reprisals.
Please keep the faith, for all of our sakes.
Respectfully,
Steven H. Kimball, American

Kerry: UN, France, Communism über alles

<center><img src="http://photos.yafro.com/pics2/i/20040802/0/b/7/3/2/0b732c9b5409d5a7365f1bfdc2da6d030_full.jpg"></center><br>

Kerry has a long and well-documented history of providing "aid and
comfort" to the enemy in time of war -- particularly in the case of
North Vietnam, Nicaragua and Cuba. Kerry, by his own account of his
actions and protests, violated the UCMJ, the Geneva Conventions and
the U.S. Code while serving as a Navy officer. Kerry met, on two
occasions, with North Vietnamese negotiators in 1970 and 1971,
willingly placing himself in violation of Article three, Section
three of the U.S. Constitution, which defines treason as "giving aid
and comfort" to the enemy in time of warfare. <br>

Kerry was recognized for such "aid and comfort" in 1983, when he
received an award for special contributions to the Communist victory
from the incoming general secretary of the Communist Party of
Vietnam, Comrade Do Moi. (See photos at http://kerry-04.org/war/record.php">http://kerry-04.org/war/record.php).
